The Family Businesses and Entrepreneurship Application and Research Center (AGMER) was founded and commenced its operations with the Official Gazette dated May 17, 2004 and numbered 25465.
The aim of the Center
The first of its kind in Turkey, AGMER was established as a result of the insufficiency of research on enterprises that are owned, managed and controlled by families and constitute the backbone of the Turkish economy and aims to examine the problems of these enterprises at a university level. Almost all small, medium and large-sized enterprises in Turkey are family businesses and have different characteristics and problems related to “family” and in terms of their relations with other elements of the economy and other sectors. The aim of AGMER is to systematically examine the characteristics of family businesses and the entrepreneurs who found and develop these enterprises, their problems and interactions with internal and external environmental elements and to conduct various researches, prepare publications and provide consultancy services for this purpose. The aims of AGMER also include carrying out cooperative studies with other national and international centers established with similar objectives, comparatively examining family businesses established in various regions of the world and in Turkey and examining the developments and deficiencies of family businesses in line with the economic development in Turkey.
